We at Hiss Bakery will miss David Hiss, who passed away January 16th suddenly. After retirement a few years back he came into the bakery a couple days a week to help out. We will miss his expertise, his help, his wit and mostly his friendship. Goodnight Uncle Dave.
Hiss Bakery bakers makes and bakes their products at night. Our store clerks are there during the day to serve our wonderful customers. In this day and age, many bakeries, as well as grocery store bakeries, bake off or defrost frozen products such as donuts. Hiss Bakery still bakes from scratch its breads, rolls, buns, pastries, strudels, coffee cakes, petits fours, CAKES, pies, cookies, raised donuts, and icings from original family recipes. Hiss products may cost a little more, but they are truely made fresh! Only soy and vegetable shortenings are used – no lard! We also don’t add any preservatives to the ingredients that we use. Which cake are you paying more for - a thawed frozen cake, that they only pay someone to decorate or one that was mixed, baked, layed out, and iced fresh as Hiss Bakery does? Don't be fooled, anyone can buy a ready mix, frozen sheet cake, frozen cookie or bread dough, bake it, and claim it is "Fresh Baked!" and charge you as much as an authentic bakery item. Doesn't your family deserve the best for the price?
A cake from a bakery, whether it’s for a birthday, anniversary, or WEDDING is always special when it comes from a bakery. Especially when it is mixed and baked fresh for the occasion. We have been doing weddings for 50 years and are now making anniversary cakes for many of those previous wedding patrons. We are one of the few bakeries that still make petit fours by scratch, with special decorations and/or tinted to fit the holiday or celebration.
